THE BEGINNING Annie was born in Waterbury, Connecticut on October 2, 1940. In 1967, she was enrolled at the San Francisco art institute where she studied painting but developed a love for photography.

THE 70S In 1970, she applied for a job with a start-up rock music magazine, Rolling stone. Its there she was offered a job as a staff photographer. Two years later, 23 year old Annie was promoted to Chief photographer which she remains for the next 10 years. She also accompanies the Rolling stones band on their international tour in 1975.

THE 80S On December 8, 1980 Annie had become well-known for taking one of the two last pictures of John Lennon hours before his death that night with a photo of John curled up with his wife Yoko Ono. In 1983, Leibovitz left Rolling Stone and began working with Vanity Fair magazines taking stunning yet controversial photos from a very pregnant, naked Demi Moore to Whoopi Goldberg in a bath tub fill of milk.

90’S-2000’S In 1991, Annie's collections of black and white photos have become an exhibit at the National Portrait Gallery in Washington D.C. Later that year she has published a book entitled Photographs: Annie Leibovitz 1970-1990. In 1996, Leibovitz was chosen to be a official photographer for the summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia. In 2005, she the Brooklyn Museum of Art did a retrospective on her work entitled "Annie Leibovitz: A Photographer’s Life, 1990-2005."

PERSONAL LIFE Leibovitz has three children. At age 51, she gave birth to her daughter Sarah. In 2005, with a help of a sergeant mother she had twin girls Susan and Samuelle.
