3
What if I told you we already have this space?!?
4
Well we do, it is simply not being utilized to it’s fullest potential. You may currently refer to it as the Ops trailer, but soon it will be known as… Ops Lounge
5
The Ops trailer currently holds: A work bench A work bench Tools Tools Lockers Lockers Numerous empty cabinets Numerous empty cabinets Old monitors/speakers Old monitors/speakers Out of date items that need to be thrown out Out of date items that need to be thrown out
6
The Good: Tools and a workbench are very handy. Getting rid of these would be a mistake. The lockers are also useful for obvious reasons.
7
The Bad: Old empty cabinets taking up space should be thrown out or moved somewhere else. Pieces of ancient equipment that is no longer in use should be dealt with in a similar fashion.
8
More bad: Generic lighting in the trailer is not conducive to creative problem solving. The bright lights are not very relaxing, and do not allow people to enter the trailer in an enjoyable manner. 9
…kind of scary if you ask me. Here’s what the Ops trailer currently looks like…
10
Not very pleasant is it? Here’s what we should do…
11
Get rid of the empty cabinets and other useless junk which leaves us with about 15’ x 7’ of space to use…
12
Add a comfy couch…
13
Maybe a fun bean bag chair…
14
Put in a nice little coffee table…
15
Hang some funky thought- provoking lights…
16
With a dash of music…
17
And then we’ll have our own mini getaway where we’ll see:
18
Eric eating…
19
Or Angela socializing…
20
Or Claire pondering work…
21
Or others having a good time…
22
Sitting in the control room all day isn’t healthy. Some moderate exercise will do wonders to your body.
23
And nothing makes you feel young again like a jog on a treadmill…
24
See how good Jamie looks?
25
Other possible items may include a computer, a mini fridge, or a television. But remember, this is the Ops Lounge, so we can customize it as we see fit.
26
How much will this cost you ask? Next to nothing. All these items can be purchased used.
27
Cost breakdown: Couch ~ $0 - $50 Couch ~ $0 - $50 Coffee table ~ free Coffee table ~ free Bean bag chair ~ $0 - $50 Bean bag chair ~ $0 - $50 Stereo ~ free Stereo ~ free Treadmill ~ $0 - $100 Treadmill ~ $0 - $100 TV ~ free TV ~ free
28
Why are some of these items free? Many of us have these items in our house sitting around doing nothing. Donating these items for a good cause will benefit everyone, as well as clear up space in your basement. For the rest of the items, ‘craigslist’ has a plethora of quality, low- cost items.
29
Who’s going to do the work? No one will be asked to do anything, I’m sure volunteers will present themselves. The work can be done on night shifts, weekends, or even afternoons when it’s not busy. Preferably this will be done before next shutdown, but if it isn’t, shutdown would be an optimal time to do it as well.
30
We have this potentially great space, why don’t we put it to good use!
31
What would you want to see in the Ops Lounge? If you have any input regarding this proposal, please feel free to email me at dprevost@triumf.ca dprevost@triumf.ca
