Born November 15, 1887 in Kirkwood, Missouri Grew up living in her grandfather’s house who was a pastor for a Presbyterian Church Attended Bryn Mawr College and received her B.A in 1909 Never married; was always living with her mother until her death and supported herself by freelance writing Died in New York City in 1972 after suffering from several strokes Imagist movement

Related to H.D (Hilda Doolittle), Williams, T.S Elliott and Ezra pound Had writing stages: discipline and heroic behavior, to spiritual grace and love, she went from scrutinizing an object to comparing objects, and describing characteristics of animals and athletes. “She was fond of animals, and much of her imagery is drawn from the natural world. She was also a great fan of professional baseball and admired Muhammad Ali.” Her writing would express deeply in the virtues of courage, loyalty, modesty, patience etc.

If you tell me why the fen appears impassable, I then will tell you why I think that I can get across if I try.

Fen = frequently flooded area of land She is stating that someone should know what the obstacle is in order to know how to overcome or solve it. While many see an obstacle and give up before they even try to fight it. Or It might be that you can think of reasons why you shouldn’t do something while she can think of reasons of why you should do it.
