Keystone Review Respiration 1.A – The bond that connects the last phophate is broken when ATP is converted into ADP; releasing energy. 2.B – The breakdown of ATP and glucose releases energy. 3.B – Oxygen and glucose are the raw material needed to carry out cellular respiration. 4.C – Glucose is broken down during glycolysis which occurs in the cytoplasm just outside the mitochondria. 5.A – Bacteria are prokaryotic cells that do not have a mitochondria.
2
Keystone Review Respiration Open Ended Question A. Eating carbohydrates supplies glucose to your body. The glucose is then broken down to ATP through cellular respiration. You muscles cells use ATP for work like running a marathon.
3
Keystone Review Respiration Open Ended Question B. When you are running, the chemical energy in ATP is concerted in kinetic energy. However during energy transfers, some energy is lost as heat. Running uses a lot of ATP therefore a lot of heat is produced.
4
Keystone Review Respiration Open Ended Question C. Your cells will switch to anaerobic respiration when you cannot get enough oxygen to your cells for aerobic respiration. To prevent this, you should take deep breathes to get more oxygen and run at a slower pace so that oxygen is not used so quickly.

Keystone Review Photosynthesis 1.A – Photosynthesis produce glucose, oxygen is not needed, but it is produced as a waste product. 2.B – Choices A, C, D; (sunlight is absorbed, a water molecule is split and oxygen is released) all occur in the thylakoid. 3.D – Plants use carbon dioxide in photosynthesis, if there is less plants they would use less carbon dioxide and more would be left in the atmosphere. 4.B – In photosynthesis carbon dioxide and water are the reactants; oxygen and glucose are the products.

Keystone Review Photosynthesis Open Ended Question A. The original source of energy is the sun. Sunlight is absorb by chlorophyll in the plant. The light energy is converted into chemical energy, such as glucose. The glucose is consumed by an animal who then used cellular respiration to convert glucose into ATP.
7
Keystone Review Photosynthesis Open Ended Question B. In the plant light energy from the sun is converted in chemical energy in a glucose molecule. In the animal chemical energy in glucose is converted into chemical energy in ATP. Throughout this process some energy is lost as heat.
8
Keystone Review Photosynthesis Open Ended Question C. When ATP is converted into ADP and a phosphate group, most of the energy contained in the molecule of ATP is used in another chemical reaction that takes place in a cell. Some energy is lost as heat.
