For the purpose of this presentation we will focus on the PowerPoint presentation which is during the last four weeks of the trimester. 4 Realization Working on the CTAP project was a great experience, even though I know that this is an ongoing process. With the changes in technology teachers need to stay on top of new software. Prior to implementing PowerPoint as a means of developing a career presentation, students had created career cluster boards which were presented to the panel. Now that students are required to use a computer and the Internet the presentation format became more professional and creative. As a business teacher introducing more technology to my students, they in return, become more marketable.

Achievements Professional presentations Innovative presentations Expansion of resources (careercruising.com)careercruising.com Rubric, Family Jobs and Career Questionnaire Facilitates: –Self-confidence –Self-esteem –Communication –Life-long learning activities –Employability skills –Analytical skills Rubric Family Jobs Career Questionnaire

Lesson Revisions The written report involved in their career presentation: Linking up with the English 12 teacher to assist in the final project would be very beneficial to the student. The majority of the students at Aurora High School are EL (English Learners): Linking up with the EL teacher to assist in the oral presentation would be advantageous to the student. My Computerized Portfolio Class is a senior requirement and all seniors must pass this class to graduate. Because of what is at stake for the students, additional assistance is required.

Standards In the process of aligning our curriculum to the state standards, I was able to address some of the Language Arts Standards for the 11 th and 12 th grades. WRITING 1.6 (Develop presentation by using clear research questions and creative and critical research strategies.) 2.6a (Deliver multimedia presentations that combine text, images, and sound by incorporation information from a wide range of media, including films, newspapers, magazines, CD-ROMs, online information, television, videos, and electronic media generated images.) 2.6d (Deliver multimedia presentation that test the audience’s response and revise the presentation accordingly.) LISTENING AND SPEAKING 2.4a (Deliver multimedia presentations that combine text, images and sound by incorporating information from a wide range of media, including films, newspapers, magazines, CD-ROMs, online information, television, videos and electronic media generated images.) 2.4d (Deliver multimedia presentation that tests the audience’s response and revise the presentation accordingly.)

School Goal In 2001 Aurora High School was awarded a 6-year accreditation. Part of this was to develop and implement our School Goals. My Computerized Portfolio Class addresses four out of the six goals. COMMUNICATION: Students will convey significant messages to others both verbally and in writing that can be applied to everyday life situations. ANALYITCAL: Students will use logical and effective decision making processes to develop solutions for the challengers in their lives. LIFE-LONG LEARNERS: Students will demonstrate competence in all curricular areas that will promote life–long learning. EMPLOYABILITY: Students will possess the necessary skills to succeed in the career of their choice.

Concluding Statement Completing the TWT program introduced me to a variety of resources available on the Net and throughout the state CTAP network. Since our school just went through a WASC accreditation the time and resources used in this project aligned with the areas of improvement identified at our school site. This past school year I have implemented PowerPoint presentations three different times. My students never fail to impress me with their creativity and their imagination. The outside evaluators of the presentation always leave the school with a completely different outlook of what continuation students are all about.
