This will enable the RCU to track improvements to patient care within agreed pathways

The Workstreams will: Be led by a member of the group Undertake an evaluation of the Steers recommendations, working through the practical service and financial implications of implementation Ascertain the current level and mapping of expenditure Ensure that all proposals and plans are evidence based and deliverable Present regular updates to the group Prepare and present detailed costed (capital and revenue) implementation plan on their area of activity to the group

Steers Review Stroke Management Recommendations Development of acute stroke units 24/7 Thrombolysis service * Prompt authoritative radiological reporting 24/7 CT scanning (MRI in the future) Rapid access neurovascular ‘one stop’ clinics as a preventative measure Stroke Rehab to follow local clinical pathways Clear links between stroke units and neurosurgical service

9. Next Steps Meeting with Chair of Regional Stroke Forum next week Agree draft work plan and timescales in view of Steers recommendations Review Terms of Reference and structure of Stroke Forum Next scheduled meeting 2 nd February 2009
