abrasive – adj. Harsh, rough Sand paper is quite abrasive, it can smooth very rough surfaces.

abound - v To exist in great quantities or numbers To be fully supplied or filled Jelly beans abounded in the candy jar, it was overflowing!

abscond - v To leave quickly and secretly and hide oneself After robbing the bank, the thief absconded to the safe house to hide.

abhor - v To detest thoroughly I abhor brussel sprouts; I think they are the grossest vegetable.

Abstemious - adj Sparing or moderate, especially in eating and drinking The meals in expensive restaurants are often abstemious, containing very small portions.
