How to create transparent background text boxes in MS Word
2
For this demonstration, I will set the header over a colored box at the top of the MS Word window. I am doing this to show the application of color because I will end up using light colored text. Step One Insert a text box and type in the copy you want to use. In this case the title of my newsletter will be ‘My family newsletter.
3
Step Two Right click on the border of the text box and select ‘Format Text Box’ from the pop-up options.
4
Step Three Click on the fill options drop down arrow.
5
Step Four Select “no color’ from the options that appear in the color window.
6
Step Five Repeat the process for the line drop down menu.
7
You will notice that the box and line around the text ‘My family’ has disappeared because it now has no color. Note that no color is very much different from a white box over a white background. In that case they are just the same color and the text box will re-appear if the background color changes.
8
Step Six Position and color the text as you choose.
9
Step Seven Repeat the process for the remaining copy. Use the Format > Arrange menu as needed to assign layers to the text boxes. See the next slide for the menu locations. Again, not that I am only adding the blue colored box to show the lighter colored type on top of it.
