NATIONAL DISHES SWEET JOHN‘S DUMPLING

This cake is typical delicacy in Czech republic appropriate to eat with coffee or tea, but we also eat it for lunch, breakfast or dinner.

HOW TO MAKE IT

INGREDIENCES Flour500 g Salt Suggar Egg yolk2 pc Yeast30 g Butter130 g Filling (jam, plums, peaches…) Milk250 ml

1. Mix milk, yeast and one spoon of suggar and one spoon of flour together. Let it rise. 2. Take the flour into the bowl. Add the rised dough, egg yolk whisked with the rest of milk, suggar and warm fat (50g). Now you have soft dough. Let it rise once more. 3. Take the dough and cut it into pieces of the same size. Shape them to a pancake, add filling to each of them (jam, or anything of your choice) and wrap it. 4. Butter the baking tin and put the dumplings on it. 5. Heat the oven to 200°C and put the baking tin in for a while and then reduce the temperature. Let it bake about 40 minutes. 6. Take out the Sweet baked John‘s dumplings and let it cool, then sprinkle it with suggar.
