OPTIMA BATTERY has 4 posts in total These top posts go to the car’s normal power connections These extra battery posts connect wire to the distribution block/grounding post inside the car +- Car’s firewall SLIDE 1 - Battery 2 gauge ground wire 2 gauge power wire Power distribution block Grounding post. Located inside car (under fake floor in back of car) FUSE 80/100 amp? The fuse needs to be placed nearest the battery inside the engine compartment *

SLIDE 2 Power/Grounding Power distribution block (bolt to metal false floor in back of car) Located inside car (under fake floor in back of car) Main power wire coming from the optima battery Main ground lug/post AMP #1 Subwoofer AMP #2 4 speakers EQUALIZER (for speakers) D G KEY D = Power Distribution Block G = Grounding post Note: These will be referred to as D and G on other slides CROSS-OVER? #1 For two transducers CROSSOVER? #2 For speakers and sub * * * Anything with a red asterisk is listed on last few pages of this ppt file

SLIDE 3 GND -Use existing car stereo ground cable ACC- Use existing car stereo power cable RCA Line out #1 (left/right) to Speaker amplifier (or EQ if I install one in glove box) Remote line out (pwr) Relay RCA Line out #3 (mono) to Subwoofer amplifier Send remote (pwr) to other devices BATT+ - memory lead (with small fuse) to battery or to power distribution block inside the car * RCA Line out #2 (left/right) Currently unused in my setup Parking break wire Reverse gear X-over * Transducers in each front seat Low level speakers outputs from head unit X-over: Need to control volume being sent to the transducers + - + -

SLIDE 4 Adjustable Volume/ Signal Level controller? for the two transducers (KICKER Brand) EQUALIZER For speakers and sub Input/output chain (KICKER) CROSSOVER #1 For speakers and sub Use speaker outputs from head unit to feed this volume controller * + - + - Transducers 25 or 50 watts RMS L/R RCA line out Mono RCA line out line out AMP #1 (RCA 4 channel) for 4 Speakers The rear 6 x 9’s, and the side 4” AMP #2 (Digital Audio) for Subwoofer line out

Power Consumption /Output SLIDE 5 Adjustable Volume/ Signal Level controller? for the two transducers EQUALIZER CROSSOVER #1 Use speaker outputs from head unit to feed this volume controller * 25/50 watts 4 Ohms 25/50 watts 4 Ohms + - + - Transducers use 25 to 50 watts RMS depending on style I use RCA line out RCA line out line out AMP #1 AMP #2 line out JL Audio Sub 300 watts 4 Ohms 12VDC (~10.8 - 16V) Consumption: 15 A Output: 50W x 4 4 Ohm (4-8 ohm)

Speaker placement in car SLIDE 6 Speaker Box Two 6 x 9’s REAR FRONT Transducer in seat 4” speaker behind door Subwoofer center speaker in console

Object placement in car SLIDE 7 Speaker Box Two 6 x 9’s REAR FRONT Transducer in seat 4” speaker behind door Optima battery Firewall FALSE FLOOR AREA Grounding post Power distribution block Inline fuse EQ EQ is in or under the glove box Subwoofer volume control knob Transducer volume control knob Crossover #1 for Sub/Speakers AMP #2 AMP #1 X-over X-over #1 is in or under the glove box, used for transducers Head

Wiring inter-connections SLIDE 8 Speaker Box Two 6 x 9’s 6x9 REAR FRONT Transducer in seat 4” speaker behind door Optima battery Firewall Power dist block EQ HEAD UNIT Transducer in seat + - + - To grounding post To power distribution block Gnd post To control subwoofer volume To control transducer volume X-over Speaker outputs used here RCA line outputs used here Remote pwr. Main Crossover spkrs+sub Line outputs from EQ AMP for Subwoofer Line output 4 CH. AMP for all 4 speakers Line output relay sub - + 4” FALSE FLOOR AREA Use existing stereo power wire I may be using a powered subwoofer instead of the separate amp and subwoofer

QUESTIONS/ISSUES TO RESOLVE – SLIDE 9 Determine where to drill holes in the firewall and put the two grommets Calculate fuse size for battery, based on power draw/usage Determine type of fuse holder to purchase Need to find source for a power distribution block for inside car Determine where to put the power distribution block Need a grounding post for inside car, what to use? Determine where to put the grounding post Need a Relay device, for taking the blue wire/remote antenna/power wire and being able to boost the signal, and send the on/off/remote signal to all devices that need it Need to figure out a container to hold all these devices/connections/ Like a wiring harness area. Seen ideas in some of my books. Maybe a wood panel mounted to false floor of the car. Need one or two computer fans, or some type of cooling fans for car stereo equipment that run at 12 volts, like other car stereo equipment. Because I will probably be mounting the electronics and amps underneath the false floor and they will be trapped down there without any air, unless I do something about it with these fans. Need to find good source for the 0,2,4,8 gauge power wires and other car stereo wiring needs. Determine wire gauge size for connecting amps to the power and grounding blocks. I’m thinking 4 gauge is probably good enough.

QUESTIONS/ISSUES TO RESOLVE – SLIDE 10 Got to figure out where to hook up the head unit wires for the Reverse gear and Parking brake Need to determine what device I can use (maybe a simple crossover?) to connect the speaker wires from the head unit to, and control the signal/volume level going into the transducers. I have to be able to individually control how much signal is going to the transducers so they don’t fry out. Need to determine how to mount the transducers into the driver seat and the passenger seat. Permanent installation, but with option to remove them in case I fry them out. Need to determine where to place Equalizer. I think in glove box or mounted under it, behind the kick panel on passenger side. If in glove box, need a fan blowing air on it. Need to design a new false floor that is both secure, but also is easy to flip up to make adjustments in the amps, crossovers, etc, OR I could just build a separate wood box and cover with black carpet that sits on top of the false floor? Instead of trying to place eveything under the false floor. But generally, I like the idea of hiding everything possible under the false floor and just popping it open when I need to tweak stuff, or show it off.
