12.2 Chapter Overview n Sexuality is more than physicality; it is a drive toward fruitful union and a reaching out to others. n Catholics are called to follow Jesus, the model of chastity. n Marriage is the naturally ordered context for sexual expression. n Catholic moral teaching based on the sixth and ninth commandments provides guidance for decision making in areas of sexual behavior.

V12.1 Vocabulary n Fecundity (p. 225): Fruitfulness; bearing children. n Chastity (p. 225): Integration of sexuality reflecting our unity as body and spirit; responsible sexual expression. n Recreational sexual intercourse (p. 230): Morally wrong sexual activity as the pursuit of pleasure with no constraints other than mutual consent.

V12.2 Vocabulary n Emotional-relationship sexual intercourse (p. 230): Morally wrong sexual activity presumed as being acceptable when the two people involved feel love for each other. n Almost-committed sexual intercourse (p. 231): Morally wrong sexual activity that presumes that it is acceptable when the two people have expressed a degree of commitment to each other, such as during engagement.

V12.3 Vocabulary n Rape (p. 234): Forcing sex on an unwilling partner. n Acquaintance rape (p. 234): Forcing sex on someone known by the assailant. n Date rape (p. 234): Rape that occurs in the context of a date or a dating relationship.

Homosexual activity is sexual activity engaged in by persons of the same gender. n Heterosexuality (p. 235): Sexual attraction toward persons of the other gender. Heterosexual activity is sexual activity engaged in by persons of different genders.
