Your—possessive. This “your” indicates that something belongs to you. For example: Your house Your sweater Your shoes Your pencil (all of those items belong to you!)

You’re—”You are” Use this you’re when you want to say you are! Ex: 1. You’re great! (You are great.) 2. You’re going to regret it! (You are going to regret it.) 3. You’re a nice friend. (You are a nice friend.)

If you are not sure which “your” to use, ask yourself this question: “Can I replace this “your” with “You are”? If you can, then you should write “you’re” If you cannot, then you need to write “your.”
