1. Basic Spiritual Battle 101 Don’t love the world!  SATAN CONTROLS THE WORLD (1 John 5:19) We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one.  WE DEFEAT SATAN BY NOT LOVING THE WORLD (1 John 2:14-16) I write to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God lives in you, and you have overcome the evil one. {15} Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. {16} For everything in the world--the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does-- comes not from the Father but from the world.

The Belt of Truth  We are saved by truth – (Ephesians 1:13a) And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation.  So live by truth – (Ephesians 4:21-23) Surely you heard of him and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. {22} You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; {23} to be made new in the attitude of your minds; {24} and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

5. The Breastplate of Righteousness  Chosen to be holy (Ephesians 1:4) For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight.  Live Holy/Righteous (Ephesians 5:8-11) For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light {9} (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) {10} and find out what pleases the Lord. {11} Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.

7. The Shield of Faith  (1 Peter 5:8-9) Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. {9} Resist him, standing firm in the faith…  (1 John 4:4) You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them (false spirits, verse 4), because the one who is in you (the Holy Spirit) is greater than the one who is in the world (Satan).

8. The Sword of the Spirit – God’s Word  (Hebrews 4:12) For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.  (James 1:22) Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.  (James 4:7) Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
