I did not know what it was, but at this point it was my only choice. I started to swim toward it. As I got closer, I could see that it was some type of space station. Cheech’s Great Adventure My name is Cheech. One sunny afternoon, I decided to go exploring in the forest. I packed a picnic lunch and headed off. The tall trees kept the sunlight out, so the forest was as dark as night. After walking for awhile, I became tired and decided to stop for a drink of water and my picnic lunch. After eating, I looked around and realized I didn’t know where I was nor how to get home. “Oh no, I’m lost!” I cried. Instead of getting upset, I sat down and thought about what to do. Soon, I was out in orbit on target to arrive at Mars in a few hours. I decided to have a snack and take a nap. When I woke up a few hours later, I realized that I hadn’t landed on Mars like I was supposed to. In fact, I had no idea where I was. I was lost! The rocket’s navigation system must have broken. I looked out the window and saw a strange planet in the distance. The planet was bluer than a pool of sparking water. I switched off the automatic pilot and grabbed the controls. With a lot of skill and a little bit of luck, I managed to land the rocket on the strange planet. The planet was amazing. It appeared to be completely unpolluted. I thought it must be uninhabited until I saw a creature approaching. I said hello, and was surprised the creature was able to answer me in Spanish. Thank goodness I was learning how to speak in Spanish at school. I explained my situation, and the creature assured me that someone on the planet would be able to fix the navigation system for me. However they didn’t have many visitors, perhaps I would be interested in staying awhile. I thought that was a wonderful idea. “I’ll need to let my parent’s know where I am,” I said. “They must be starting to worry.” “No problem, we have a special telephone you can use,” the creature explained. Cheech’s Great Adventure My name is Cheech. One sunny afternoon, I decided to go exploring in space. I packed some supplies in my rocket and blasted off like a racehorse out of the starting gate. Soon, I was out in orbit on target to arrive at Mars in a few hours. I decided to have a snack and take a nap. When I woke up a few hours later, I realized that my rocket was heading straight towards a spaceship. CRASH. “Oh no,” I cried as part of my rocket broke off and flew away. I grabbed onto my chair just as it was ripped from the floor of the rocket. I must have blacked out because the next thing I knew, I was on board a strange spaceship. “What happened?”, I exclaimed. “Our spaceship crashed into your rocket,” said a small creature with a funny voice. “You are lucky we were able to bring you on board with us. There is nothing left of your rocket, but don’t worry we can help you get home,” said the creature. I told the alien where I was from and we made it back to my house quickly. I thanked the aliens and promised to look for them the next time I was in space. I walked up to one of them and told her what had happened. “Don’t worry,” she said. “I can fly you home.” I told her where I was from and we made it back to my house quickly. I thanked her and promised to visit the space station the next time I was in space. Thank goodness I was learning how to speak Spanish at school. I explained my situation, and the creature assured me that someone on the planet would be able to fix the navigation system for me. However they didn’t have many visitors, perhaps I would be interested in staying a while. I thought that was a wonderful idea. “I’ll need to let my parent’s know where I am,” I said. “They must be starting to worry.” “No problem, we have a special telephone you can use,” the creature explained. I called home and told my mom I was going to be gone for a couple of weeks, but that I would have a great story to tell her when I saw her.
