Limolus Amoebocytic Lysate Test (LAL Test) is a premier method to detect the lipopolysaccharides (LPS) called endotoxins in Gram negative bacterial cell wall and has a wide spread industrial application, especially in pharmaceutical industry. High concentration of lipopolysaccharides in pharmaceutical preparations like antibiotics etc may have severe health problems such as: pyrogenecity, change in blood composition and shock. Different techniques have been developed to detect the presence of endotoxins in the pharmaceutical preparations, however LAL test is considered as the most authentic and most commonly used technique for this purpose. Young researchers & post graduate scholars from public & private sectors universities, research institutes and colleges involved in the microbiology especially in pharmaceutical microbiology, chemistry and pharmacy Registration08:30 -09:00 Welcome & Introduction of Participants 09:00 -09:15 Session 109:15 - 10:15 Bacterial Endotoxins: Origin, Composition and Pharmacological effects Dr. Imran Sajid (MMG) Tea Break: 10:15 - 10:45 Session 210:45 - 01:00 Testing Methodologies: LAL test (Gel clot method, chromogenic method, turbidimetric method) Mr. Shafat Ali (Pharm Canada Pakistan) Lunch & Prayer Break 01:00 - 02:00 Session 3 Practical Session 02:00 - 04:00 Dr. Imran Sajid Mr. Shafat Ali Mr. Yasir Rehman Mr. Usman Aftab Mr. Asif Raheem Qiasrani Understanding the nature and pharmacological effects of endotoxins Having an overview of the testing methodologies used in endotoxin testing Practicing the LAL test: gel clot method and related techniques
