Student Activities Register by meeting with Disability Services student advisor Request for Letters to Professors (LTP’s) Request for Notetaking services for classes they have enrolled in, for the current term Exam Accommodations request for midterm and/or final exams, for the current term

Student Registration Process Medical Documentation DSS Medical Questionnaire (for a non- learning disability) or Psycho-Educational Assessment Student meets with DSS Student Advisor Advisor adds student to DSS database Process

Student Requests Letters To Professors (LTP’s) Initial request Occurs when the student meets for the first time with a DSS student advisor Subsequent requests May occur anytime after the initial request, via the DSS website Letters are emailed to the student’s UofS email account; student is encouraged to hand deliver the letter to her professor(s)

Student Request Notetaking Service For Classes Made when the student requests LTP’s List of requested courses are displayed to administrator who then makes announcements, using PAWS announcement feature, to all students registered in those specific course(s) Students are then matched with a volunteer Notetaker who is taking the same course

Notetaking Service Potential notetakers respond to the DSS announcement and an initial meeting is arranged to sign-up the student notetaker Each notetaker is then matched with a student or students, requiring notes in the class the notetaker has agreed to take notes for Notetakers photocopy and deliver their handwritten notes through the Copy Centre, using a 4-digit ID #; DSS students then pickup the photocopied notes without meeting the student who is providing their notes

Student Requests Exam Accommodation(s) Student logs in to a web form and is asked to chose if she wants to make an exam accommodation for a final or non final exam Student is presented with a list of courses that she can make an exam accommodation for After choosing the course she requires accommodations for, she is able to complete her request Student can visit the same web form at a later time to find out the status of her exam accommodation

Exam Accommodation Service Runs report that lists submitted exam accommodations Working from that report, edits each exam record - adjusting the status of the exam and other required information Requests exam copies from department administrators by creating department memos that list required exams Schedules and books exam rooms and invigilators/scribes to finalize exam schedule for the coming week Once exams have been written, they are walked over to the appropriate department the next business day

Looking to the Future – Exam Program Working with ITCOM and the U of S Examination Department to refine use of Infosilem Working with the University Learning Centre to use their assistive technology for exams

Looking to the Future – Notetaking Program Having students scan their notes and post to a secure website Partnering with the University Writing Centre to train notetakers

Looking to the Future – Disability Services for Students Partnering with the Bookstore and Printing Services for our fledgling Alternate Format Program Possibly moving to a more central location where all DSS staff can work together Moving DSS online services onto PAWS
