8 FOR SUCH A TIME … « And who knows, but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this? » In this verse Mordecai is reminding her of God’s providence in the past, and of the entirely unlikely (miraculous) set of circumstances that resulted in her divine appointment as Queen « and who knows » - a figure of speech known as aposiopesis which means a sudden breaking off in speech. So that the mind is more impressed by what is left unsaid because it is to wonderful to verbalize « And who knows, but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this? » In this verse Mordecai is reminding her of God’s providence in the past, and of the entirely unlikely (miraculous) set of circumstances that resulted in her divine appointment as Queen « and who knows » - a figure of speech known as aposiopesis which means a sudden breaking off in speech. She and her maids would do the same and then she would go before the king. 10 AND IF I PERISH « And if I perish, I perish. » What powerful words. They show courage. « Courage is not the absence of fear, but the realization that there are things more important than fear. » (Beth Moore) « And if I perish, I perish. » What powerful words.
