14 אאמו"ר כותב באחד ממכתביו: טובה פעולה אחת מאלף אנחות. My father writes in one of his letters: Better a single act than a thousand sighs.

15 Chani woke up one morning, And gave a nice big groan. Her head sure hurt, she was sure, A migraine headache had been sown. She groaned again as she got dressed, Her head felt like a ton of bricks! And she just picked at her breakfast, Not like normally – when she would eat every last lick! At each step of the walk to school, A groan was heard from her. And while her class was quiet for שמונה עשרה, A groan rose from behind her סידור. In חומש class, a few more groans, Emanated from our Chani dear.

16 In נביא, פרשה, הלכה and שיחות, Her groans were loud and clear. Now, she had a friend named Raizy, Who was quite clever indeed. And her friend Chani’s thoughts, She could almost read! So she said, “Chani dear, why don’t you simply, Take some medicine so your headache will heal quickly?” Chani did so, and wouldn’t you know, Her headache cleared and she could go, To listen in class, because better then all the groans galore, Is a simple action, just one little chore. That changed the situation completely, And healed poor Chani very quickly.

17 Once, Reb Yechezkel Feigin, known as “Chatshe” was holding a Farbrengen with Yeshiva students in a cellar in Communist Russia. Of course, such a gathering was illegal and two students were appointed to watch upstairs to be on the lookout for anything/anyone suspicious. R’ Chatshe was Farbrenging from the heart; about demanding more of themselves. The students were even moved to tears; they started crying! All of a sudden, one of the watchmen rushed down to say that a suspicious group was coming to the cellar. Maybe they were KGB agents. The Farbrengen stopped and suggestions started coming in. Maybe they should run away. Maybe they should take out magazines and science books and pretend they were learning that. Maybe they should hide in the closets. The second watchmen then came down and said the group left and the Farbrengen can continue. R’ Chtashe asked them: “What is more important to you; gashmius or ruchnius?” They were honest and answered “Ruchnius.” “Why then,” he continued, “When I spoke about holy things you cry, but when we speak about safety no one cried,” “Why would crying help?” a student asked. “Something needed to be done!” “Oh I see,” R’ Chatche responded. “Crying is for when you know you won’t do something about the problem?” Of course, the students realized the lesson and so should we.
