Residence Halls Description: 2 residence hall complexes consisting of 3 buildings each. Location: Near the Dining Hall and the Housing Office Complex. Eligibility Requirements: Provided for Freshmen and Sophomore students though juniors, seniors, and graduate students may also stay in the Residence Halls.

Residence Halls 4-student suites: Consist of 2 bedrooms (2 students to a bedroom) with an adjoining bathroom shared by 4 residents. Resident Assistants: Student Resident Assistant on every floor. Required Meal Plan: Included in total price at 19 meals per week. Programming: Programs designed to specifically meet the needs of first year students.

Residence Halls Furnishings: Beds, wardrobes, desks, chairs. Included in Per Semester Rate: Local phone, cable TV, internet access, access to the University Computer Network, and utilities.

University Village Apartments Location: Near The Grille and the outdoor pool. Eligibility Requirements: Offers a higher level of independence as students progress through their academic career. Priority order given to graduate students, seniors, juniors, and sophomores. 4-student apartments: Consist of a kitchen, living room, bathroom, and private bedrooms. 2-student apartments: Consist of a kitchen, living room, bathroom, and shared bedroom.

The Forest Villas Apartments Description Contemporary apartment complex. Phase I opened in August 2004 providing 237 beds including 57 four-bedroom apartments. Phase II is planned to open in August 2007 with approximately 190 additional beds. Eligibility Requirements Priority order will be given to graduate students, seniors, juniors, and sophomores. 4 Student Apartments Consist of a kitchen, living room, two bathrooms, and private bedrooms.

The Forest Villas Community Center The Forest Villas Community Center is available for use by all FMU students. Community Space: Large space suitable for social functions, meetings and recreation. Furnished with couches, chairs, large screen TV, and music system.

Additional Amenities: Fitness room Enclosed mail pick-up area Small conference room Laundry facility (in addition to the laundry facility at the Ervin Dining Hall). Both facilities are open to all resident students. The Forest Villas Community Center

The Allard A. Allston Housing Office Complex Facilities - reception desk, meeting room, study hall, and Tutoring Center. Services mail delivery (1 exterior mailbox per student) for the Residence Halls and University Village Apartments, equipment check-out (vacuum cleaners, hand-trucks, etc.), package acceptance, key check-out, maintenance requests, after-hours information desk (5 pm–11 pm).

All assignments are decided on a first come first serve basis. A Student must be accepted to Francis Marion University before he/she can begin the Housing assignment process. Housing Assignment Process Application and Deposit/Reservation Fee 1) On-Campus Housing Application Form –The White copy must be returned to the Housing Office with payment of $250. –The Yellow copy is for the student to keep with his/her University files.

Housing Assignment Process Application and Deposit/Reservation Fee 2) Payment of $250 consists of $150 Reservation Request/Rent Advance which will be deducted from the student’s Housing fee in August. consists of $100 Damage Deposit for new residents which will be refunded to the student upon graduation or upon the student moving off- campus as long as there are no outstanding fees or fines. payment of above notifies the Housing staff that a student is interested in living on campus. payment of above does not guarantee a student an assignment for the Fall semester.

1) Housing Assessment Instructions and Information (white sheet) provides the directions of how to correctly complete the paperwork describes which forms to send back to the Housing Office provides the due date for how long the Offer is valid. 2) Housing Contract White copy must be returned to the Housing Office. Gold copy is for the student to keep with his/her University files. Offer – The Housing Office will send the student the following information as an “Offer” to reside in Housing with the due date for all of this information to be returned: Housing Assignment Process - Housing “Offer”

Housing Assignment Process - Housing “Offer” (continued) 3) Resident Information Sheet (blue form) For the student to provide: personal information information about qualities the student would like his/her roommate to have. 4) Housing Assessment A 3-ply half page invoice that will require the student’s signature. By signing this invoice, the student allows the Housing Office to charge his or her account the cost to live on campus for the Fall semester.

Mid-July – A Housing Assignment with roommate information will be mailed to the address the University has on file for the student. August 1 – University and Housing fees are due (No Exceptions). –If a student does not pay his/her housing fees by August 1, the student will automatically lose his/her Housing Assignment. August 18 – Freshmen Move-in.
