6. Fryderyk Chopin was born in Zelazowa Wola, a village six miles from Warsaw, Poland on February 22, 1810 as the son of a French father and a Polish mother. Chopin first studied the piano at the Warsaw Conservatory of Music, and he was quite proficient on that instrument by his early teens. He played his first public concert at age seven, and he was known outside of Poland as a published composer by age fifteen, after several years of study in composition and music theory in Warsaw.
