2 FUNCTIONS Provide maximum comfort and relaxation Can still include areas for reading and/or doing computer work as well as storing clothes, books, multimedia, and other items

3 MASTER vs. REGULAR BEDROOM A Master bedroom is much larger than a regular bedroom (typically suited for a couple with a king-size bed) A Master bedroom contains a larger closet (typically a walk-in closet) A Master bedroom also contains a master bath

4 LOCATION Should be located away from noisy areas of the house Should be located adjacent to other bedrooms

9 BEDROOM SIZES Master Bedroom Small = 150 sq. ft. Medium = 250 sq. ft. Large = 320+ sq. ft.

10 BATHS Fixtures – items that tap in to the plumbing lines Sink Toilet (water closet) Bathtub or shower

11 TOILETS Minimum distance of 18” from the center of the toilet to a side wall or other fixture. Toilet should not be visible when the bath door is opened.

12 TYPES of BATHS Master bath – accessible only from the master bedroom Central bath – general use for the entire family; accessible from all bedrooms Half bath – only contains a sink and toilet
