7 Confidential: University of California San Francisco Medical Center Scope:  Pilot on two units: Parnassus 15 Long (15L) and Mt. Zion 5 East/West (MZ5EW)  100 devices, distributed 60 on 15L; 30 on MZ5EW, 10 in back up status (5 each unit).  Pilot devices will not have cellular service. Devices will communicate via Wi-Fi network, using Voice, Text and Alarm capabilities supplied by VOALTE product.  Integration with Nurse Call alarms on 15L  Integration with voice system via PRI (for 5-digit dialing within the Medical Center)  Pilot Completed on 11/6/13  Post Pilot Surveys distributed on 11/13/13 15L and 5E/W issuing surveys to user through staff meetings and other gatherings Survey results presented to stakeholders on 1/27/14  Known Issues Still Outstanding with iPhones: Dropped calls and/or poor call quality During a call - the call drops completely (waiting for Wi-Fi) Caller places a call, call connects and user cannot hear other person – Vice versa – the call recipient cannot hear the caller Delayed/Missed Text Messages Users state they receive texts delayed by 5-10 minutes and some by hours Users state they send messages and never receive a receipt – end up speaking (verbal) with the text recipient and they never received the text Slide 6 Voalte Pilot Project – Current Status

8 Confidential: University of California San Francisco Medical Center Root Cause of Issues  Apple iPhone Hardware iPhone 5 / 5C / 5S has a bug in the wireless chipset. The bug makes it difficult for an iPhone 5 / 5C / 5S to switch between different wireless access points. The result is dropped calls or poor call quality.  Apple iPhone Operating System Different versions of the iPhone Operating System (iOS) have had bugs that cause the iPhone to disconnect from the wireless network. The iPhone will only reconnect when a user “awakens’ the iPhone. The result is a delay in messages being delivered or sent.  Wireless Network The current Cisco wireless network is approximately 6-7 years old and there is an opportunity to optimize the network for device connectivity. Next Steps  Test new Motorola MC40 wireless voice-over-IP (VOIP) phone on the new UCSF Aruba Wireless Data Network infrastructure – End of February Test iPhones with new iOS and Voalte application version  Engage Voalte to initate workflow development for departments moving to Mission Bay Integrate the workflow development with Nurse Call and Alarm Integration/Management  UCSF IT will develop a fallback plan in the event that Voalte testing on the new UCSF Aruba Wireless Data Network infrastructure results in a fail result Slide 7 Voalte Pilot Project – Acknowledgement of Facts
