Možné ukázky řešení k jednotlivým otázkám: General information: an island located in the South Pacific, quite isolated, 2,000 km from Australia, 4 million inhabitants, the original inhabitants – Maori, official languages – English and Maori, also called Aotearoa (“land of the long white cloud” in Maori) Geography: consists of two main islands and several small ones, sub-tropical climate on the North Island, frequent volcanic activity, hot mud springs and hot water springs, mountainous South Island with the mountain range of the Southern Alps, the highest peak – Mount Cook, glaciers, frequent earthquakes

Wildlife: m any unique species due to isolation, flightless birds – the kiwi, the kakapo, a reptile looking like a lizard – the tuatara History: first settled by Maori in the 13 th century, the Dutchman Abel Tasman – the first European who reached the island, 18 th century – British explorer James Cook, 19 th century – inter-tribal conflicts among the Maori, 1840 – the Treaty of Waitangi – gave sovereignty to the British, 1893 – the first country to give women the vote, 1907 – gained dominion status, no longer a British colony
