Purpose of Community Learning Maximise access to learning, whatever people’s circumstances. Promote social renewal by bringing local communities together. Impact on the social and economic well- being of individuals, families and communities.

Objectives Focus on people most disadvantaged and least likely to participate. Ensure those that can pay do pay and use this to fund more learning for those that can’t. Widen participation Support progression relevant to personal circumstances. Develop stronger communities

PCDL Personal Development Community Development Cultural enrichment Intellectual or creative stimulation Non accredited No requirement re. progression Must charge those that can pay NLDC Support existing and new VCS providers to build capacity to deliver learning. Learners within disadvantaged neighbourhoods FEML S4L/ ICT for mothers & fathers Help them help their children Not for ESOL Learners below level 2 WFL Family learning together Develop skills/knowledge of all family. Enable mothers/fathers to better support child’s learning.

What can programmes do to support social renewal and or citizenship? Q5. How can we improve learners progression into employment? Q6. How can we improve the funding model?

Community Learning Trusts A community led and owned trust. What provided is decided very locally. Widening participation / engaging disadvantaged Broadening provider base Involving all agencies e.g. health, family etc. Notts contract holders creating a shared identity Reducing duplication and addressing gaps. Governance? Accountable to the community
