Surface Water  Streams  Rivers  Lakes  Ponds  Marsh  Swamp  Bog  Which of these are Flowing-Water ecosystems?  Which of these are Standing-Water ecosystems?

First, let’s talk Ecology….. The interactions between organisms and their environment

Biotic Abiotic  All the living parts of the environment  Plants  Animals  Mushrooms  Bacteria  All of the nonliving parts of the environment  Water  Soil  Air  Wooden Chair  Rotting log

Biotic Factors….It’s Alive!!!  Producers-Produce their own energy.  Consumers-Must consume something else

Type of Consumers:  Primary consumers – herbivore  Secondary Consumers - Carnivores which eat herbivores  Tertiary Consumers – carnivores that eat other carnivores.  Quaternary Consumers – eat tertiary, could possibly be a top predator.

Don’t forget the Decomposers! Decomposers break down dead plants, animals and waste. They are SUPER important!!!!
