Biotic Factors….It’s Alive!!! Producers-Produce their own energy. Consumers-Must consume something else

Type of Consumers: Primary consumers – herbivore Secondary Consumers - Carnivores which eat herbivores Tertiary Consumers – carnivores that eat other carnivores. Quaternary Consumers – eat tertiary, could possibly be a top predator.

Don’t forget the Decomposers! Decomposers break down dead plants, animals and waste. They are SUPER important!!!!

So an Ecosystem is….. a system formed by the interaction of a community of organisms with their environment. It includes ALL factors living and not living.

Have ecosystems changed over time? YES!

Rivers wind/slow down/widen over time Mountains erode/grow grasses/become inhabited
