22. CARE AND CLEANING: BOLT CARRIER Scrub with the all purpose brush and CLP Insert a swab into the rear of the bolt and swab out the firing pin recess and gas ports Dry with cloth rags or patches Q-tips or pipe cleaners One drop of CLP

23. CARE AND CLEANING: LOWER RECEIVER Clean buffer recess with cloth dipped in CLP Ensure it is free of dirt, mud Apply 1 drop of CLP to each pin of the trigger assembly Dry up excess with q-tips Lube/apply light coat

25. MAINTENANCE IN DIFFERENT CLIMATES Hot, wet (jungle): keep generously lubedHot, wet (jungle): keep generously lubed Hot, dry (desert): keep free of dirt build upHot, dry (desert): keep free of dirt build up –If CLP is used, use sparingly

28. LUBRICANTS: UPPER RECEIVER Lightly lube the inside of the upper receiver, bore, chamber, outer surfaces of the barrel, and surfaces of the handguard Lube all parts of the rear sight assembly

29. LUBRICANTS: BOLT CARRIER GROUP Lube the outside of the cam pin area Lightly lube the charging handle

30. LUBRICANTS: LOWER RECEIVER Lightly lube the inside of the lower receiver Lube the inside moving parts and their pins

32. (1) Insert action spring and buffer. (2) Slide bolt into carrier. 2 REASSEMBLE THE M16A4 1

33. (3) Replace bolt cam pin. (4) Drop and seat firing pin. (5) Pull bolt out until extended. 3 4 5 REASSEMBLE THE M16A4

34. (6) Replace firing pin retaining pin. (7) Engage, then push charging handle part way. (8) Slide in bolt carrier group 6 7 8 REASSEMBLE THE M16A4

35. (9) Push charging handle and bolt carrier group together. (10) Join upper and lower receivers. (11) Engage takedown pins. (12) Ensure weapon is on SAFE. 910 1112 REASSEMBLE THE M16A4

36. REPLACE SLING
