3 rd Sunday of Advent - 2013
4
The "hand of God” (Isaiah 53.4) expresses itself in acts of kindness he accomplishes for us. He thus constantly discloses his passion, revealed in its fullness by Jesus Christ.
5
Today's three readings invite us to patience, a worthwhile objective for Advent. At this time when the days are more gloomy, some among us may feel they are in exile physically or morally, as in the first reading.
6
To all the believers in search of hope, Christ offers the small flower of patience, which resembles its sister, hope. Already at the heart of our daily trials the seeds of salvation are at work.
7
Jesus holds out the hand of friendship, lists the gestures that liberate and reveal the concrete signs of his presence.
8
At the heart of all situations, it matters that we accept God's invitation who is close and active. Thus by welcoming his presence, we render the Lord visible to this world.
9
« He who is to come » always comes and is made manifest in these tokens of affection toward the more needy of the world.
10
Let us take the time to see him there where his coming seems most astonishing.
11
We are assured of his presence: It is up to us to recognize it in all simplicity.
12
We pray you God our Father: continue to fulfill in our midst the Gospel of your Son Jesus. Let your pure light open our eyes, we who have sinned, open our ears to hear your Word,
13
make us walk joyfully on the road of the Gospel.
14
May our whole life reveal to our sisters and brothers the joyful news that you love them, in your Son Jesus, our Savior and brother for ever and ever. Amen
