Types of Satire Horatian: gentle, sympathetic form of satire with subject mildly made fun of. The audience is asked to laugh at themselves as much as the players.

Types of Satire Juxtaposition: a type of reversal in which two unlike things are placed next to each other in order to point out contrast Example: Beauty Queen in Roger & Me (Michael Moore confronts GM CEO Roger Smith about the harm he did to Flint, MI with massive downsizing)

Types of Satire Deprecation: to belittle Self-deprecation: belittling the self

Types of Satire Dimunition: reducing the size of something in order to reduce its significance or to provide a better chance of observing its flaws. Example: Oompa Loompas in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
