2. Hood هود عليه السلام And remember (Hûd) the brother of ‘Âd, when he warned his people in Al-Ahqâf (the curved sand-hills in the southern part of Arabian Peninsula). And surely, there have passed away warners before him and after him (saying): "Worship none but Allah; truly, I fear for you the torment of a mighty Day الأحقاف

Hood هود عليه السلام The People of ‘Aad: –The heirs of Earth after the people of Nooh –The mightiest nation on the face of the Earth in their time –The First to deviate after the people of Nooh وَاذكُرُواْ إِذْ جَعَلَكُمْ خُلَفَاء مِن بَعْدِ قَوْمِ نُوحٍ وَزَادَكُمْ فِي الْخَلْقِ بَسْطَةً فَاذْكُرُواْ آلاء اللّهِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُون الأعراف 69 Call in remembrance that He made you inheritors after the people of Noah, and gave you a stature tall among the nations.

Hood هود عليه السلام The People of ‘Aad: –Powerful..وَزَادَكُمْ فِي الْخَلْقِ بَسْطَةً.. الأعراف 69.. and gave you a stature tall among the nations. –Rich وَاتَّقُوا الَّذِي أَمَدَّكُم بِمَا تَعْلَمُونَ. أَمَدَّكُم بِأَنْعَامٍ وَبَنِينَ الشعراء 132-133 "Yea, fear Him Who has bestowed on you freely all that ye know.

5. Hood هود عليه السلام The People of ‘Aad: –Monumental Civilization.. إِرَمَ ذَاتِ الْعِمَادِ. الَّتِي لَمْ يُخْلَقْ مِثْلُهَا فِي الْبِلادِ.. الفجر 7-8.. Iram of the lofty pillars, The like of which was not created in the land

6. Hood هود عليه السلام As for ‘Âd, they were arrogant in the land without right, and they said: "Who is mightier than us in strength?" See they not that Allah, Who created them was mightier in strength than them. And they used to deny Our Ayat فصلت The People ‘Ad: Arrogance

7. Hood هود عليه السلام "Do you build high palaces on every high place, while you do not live in them? "And do you get for yourselves palaces (fine buildings) as if you will live therein for ever. "And when you seize (somebody), seize you (him) as tyrants? الشعراء The People ‘Ad: Tyranny

8. Hood هود عليه السلام They said: "You have come to us that we should worship Allah Alone and forsake that which our fathers used to worship. So bring us that wherewith you have threatened us if you are of the truthful." The People ‘Ad: Shirk الأعراف

9. Hood هود عليه السلام "Does he promise you that when you have died and have become dust and bones, you shall come out alive (resurrected)? "Far, very far is that which you are promised! "There is nothing but our life of this world! We die and we live! And we are not going to be resurrected! The People ‘Ad: Disbelief in the Hereafter المؤمنون

10. Hood هود عليه السلام And the chiefs of his people who disbelieved and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter, and whom We had given the luxuries and comforts of this life, said: "He is no more than a human being like you, he eats of that which you eat, and drinks of what you drink. "If you were to obey a human being like yourselves, then verily you indeed would be losers. The People ‘Ad: Blind following of the Misguided Leadership المؤمنون

11. Hood هود عليه السلام Such were the 'Ad People: they rejected the Signs of their Lord and Cherisher; disobeyed His Messengers; and followed the command of every powerful, obstinate transgressor. The People ‘Ad: Blind following of the Misguided Leadership هود

12. Hood هود عليه السلام To the 'Ad people', (We sent) Hood, one of their (own) brethren: he said: "O my people! Worship Allah! you have no other god but Him. Will you not fear (Allah)?" The Message of Hood الأعراف

13. Hood هود عليه السلام And to ‘Âd (people We sent) their brother Hood. He said, "O my people! Worship Allah! You have no other god but Him. Certainly, you do nothing but invent lies! "O my people I ask of you no reward for it (the Message). My reward is only from Him Who created me. Will you not then understand? "And O my people! Ask forgiveness of your Lord and then repent to Him, He will send you (from the sky) abundant rain, and add strength to your strength, so do not turn away as criminals” The Message of Hood: Mercy هود

14. Hood هود عليه السلام "And keep your duty to Him, fear Him Who has aided you with all (good things) that you know. "He has aided you with cattle and children. "And gardens and springs. The Message of Hood: Reminding of the Gifts of Allah الشعراء

Hood هود عليه السلام The Message of Hood: Warning the Punishment And remember (Hood) the brother of ‘Âd, when he warned his people in Al- Ahqâf (the curved sand- hills in the southern part of Arabian Peninsula). 16. Hood هود عليه السلام The leaders of those who disbelieved among his people said: "Verily, we see you in foolishness, and verily, we think you are one of the liars." The Response of ‘Ad الأعراف

17. Hood هود عليه السلام They said: "O Hood! No evidence have you brought us, and we shall not leave our gods for your (mere) saying! And we are not believers in you. "All that we say is that some of our gods (false deities) have seized you with evil (madness)." He said: "I call Allah to witness and bear you witness that I am free from that which you ascribe as partners in worship, The Response of ‘Ad هود

18. Hood هود عليه السلام And the chiefs of his people who disbelieved and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter, and whom We had given the luxuries and comforts of this life, said: "He is no more than a human being like you, he eats of that which you eat, and drinks of what you drink. "If you were to obey a human being like yourselves, then verily you indeed would be losers. The Response of ‘Ad Arrogance المؤمنون

19. Hood هود عليه السلام As for ‘Âd, they were arrogant in the land without right, and they said: "Who is mightier than us in strength?" See they not that Allah, Who created them was mightier in strength than them. And they used to deny Our Ayat (proofs, signs) The Response of ‘Ad Arrogance فصلت

20. Hood هود عليه السلام They said: "It is the same to us whether you preach or be not of those who preach. The Response of ‘Ad Obstinacy الشعراء

21. Hood هود عليه السلام The Response of ‘Ad The Challenge They said: "You have come to us that we should worship Allah Alone and forsake that which our fathers used to worship. So bring us that wherewith you have threatened us if you are of the truthful." الأعراف

22. Hood هود عليه السلام He said: "O my Lord! Help me because they deny me." (Allah) said: "In a little while, they are sure to be regretful." Allah accepts the Challenge المؤمنون

23. Hood هود عليه السلام So plot against me, all of you, and give me no respite. "I put my trust in Allah, my Lord and your Lord! There is not a moving (living) creature but He has the grasp of its forelock. Verily, my Lord is on the Straight Path (the truth). "So if you turn away, still I have conveyed the Message with which I was sent to you. My Lord will make another people succeed you, and you will not harm Him in the least. Surely, my Lord is Guardian over all things." Allah accepts the Challenge هود

24. Hood هود عليه السلام Then, when they saw it as a dense cloud coming towards their valleys, they said: "This is a cloud bringing us rain!" Nay, but it is that (torment) which you were asking to be hastened - a wind wherein is a painful torment! Destroying everything by the Command of its Lord! So they became such that nothing could be seen except their dwellings! Thus do We recompense the people who are Mujrimun (criminals, sinners)! The Punishment الأحقاف

25. Hood هود عليه السلام ‘Âd (people) belied (their Prophet, Hûd); then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? Verily, We sent against them a furious wind of harsh voice on a day of evil omen and continuous calamity. Plucking out men as if they were uprooted stems of date- palms. Then, how (terrible, painful) was My Torment and My Warnings? The Punishment القمر

26. Hood هود عليه السلام And as for ‘Âd, they were destroyed by a furious violent wind! Which Allah imposed on them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that you could see men lying overthrown (destroyed), as if they were hollow trunks of date-palms! Do you see any remnants of them? The Punishment الحاقة
