Avaya Aura Conferencing UC integrations
Audio Console Avaya Web Conferencing Avaya Aura Conferencing integrates with Avaya one-X® Communicator and one-X® Portal where conference participants are able to see the roster of who is participating in the call and can identify active speakers. If for example should someone in the conference accidentally generate Music On Hold into the conference, the disruption can sometimes cause the conference to effectively come to a halt. With these one®X integrations, Moderators can either mute the individual line causing the trouble or even remove them from the conference, allowing the conference to continue productively. Conference moderators you’re able to mute or un-mute the entire conference, as well having the capability to secure or lock the conference. The Audio Console application provides a Moderator-only GUI that displays the roster of conference participants and Speech indicator icons. It also provides the Moderator with GUI control of features such as Mute, Dial-out, hold, Sub-conferencing, recording control and Hang-up. Avaya Aura Conferencing also provides optional integration with UC applications from IBM, Adobe and Microsoft. If your customer has already chosen IBM at the desktop, there are available Avaya Aura Conferencing integrations to Lotus Notes Scheduler, Sametime Connect and Sametime Webconferencing applications. If Microsoft is the choice at the desktop, Avaya Aura Conferencing provides integration with Outlook Scheduling, OCS 2007 R2 MOC and LiveMeeting webconferencing applications. Adobe has also provided integration to Avaya Aura Conferencing in their Adobe Connect web conferencing application. They optionally provide video MCU capability for conference participants who are administered as video endpoints in Communication Manager and Session Manager. The video is H.263 and uses voice-activated source switching. Avaya Aura™ Conferencing Standard Edition also can serve as the MCU of choice for Avaya Video Telephony deployments. When a point-to-point call between 2 video-enabled endpoints should expand to 3 or more video-enabled endpoints, the video automatically transfers to an MCU bridge and becomes multipoint. This video MCU capability is targeted for availability later this year, 2010. 10

Avaya Aura Conferencing Standard Edition deployment
Simple single server centralized global conferencing CRS Web Portal Conferencing Avaya Web Conferencing Primary Site Optional Avaya Aura Conferencing Standard Edition uses the Avaya virtualization technology of System Platform for simple centralized deployment and energy efficient single server footprint. The single server runs the conferencing application and the software media server functions. It also runs both the CRS and Web Portal applications and can will also run the optional Avaya Web Conferencing application. As shown here, you see that all customer conferencing traffic is routing to the single conferencing server in the Primary site. And with capacity for 500 ports for Audio and 500 ports for Web Conferencing, the simple single server footprint of Standard Edition is a great solution for a wide range of customers and is certainly not limited only to small or mid-market customers. The conferencing tie-in to Avaya Aura Architecture is a natural, as conferencing can easily represent a large percentage of the customer’s voice traffic, and may possibly be the single largest class of use on the voice network. When the conferencing traffic remains on-net to access Standard Edition, as opposed to going off-net to access an external service provide, there are additional savings to be realized from reduced trunking requirements, which add to the ROI and savings benefits and need to be part of your customer conversations. Leverage on net calling, global access, centralized application, intelligent routing, reduced trunking, multi-vendor environments

Avaya Aura Conferencing Enterprise Edition - deployment example
Distributed conferencing with Resiliency & off-site DR facilities CRS Web Portal Conferencing Standby Primary Site Conferencing Standby Site - B CRS Web Portal Conferencing Standby DR Site Here is an example of one of deployment choices that are available with Avaya Aura Enterprise Edition and highlights a Distributed conferencing design with two sites housing separate production conference bridges. Even with Enterprise Edition’s available high capacity for centralized conferencing, this type of distributed deployment can make sense when the customer has two primary user populations, or 2 primary data centers to leverage, or may even have 2 separate Business Units as customers and may have no desire to aggregate into a single centralized bridge. In this example the North American traffic would route to the local North American bridge, and EMEA traffic routes to the EMEA bridge. This approach gives the ability to have conference bridges in close proximity to local user communities for easy transport, and still be managed and administered from a central CRS system for low TCO. Each site in this example is made locally resilient, with a primary and a standby server in place that provides automatic, 100% capacity failover coverage. Also in this particular example is a 3rd and separate site, specifically for Disaster Recovery use. This DR site is also a locally resilient implementation. In the event of complete facilities failure of either the Primary Site or Site-B, network traffic can be re-routed to the DR site, where conferencing resumes. This example is not exhaustive in all design details and considerations, but shows the flexibility of Avaya Aura Conferencing Enterprise Edition design and deployment options. Avaya Aura™ Conferencing Enterprise deployments
CRS / Web Portal opt Web Conferencing Standalone: ports G711 Bridge / Media Co-resident: Application server & Media server RTP SIP call control Let's look at some common deployment options for Avaya Aura Conferncing. We will start with the simplest which is Standard Edition. As I have mentioned various times, this is a single-server offering so the deployment is straight-forward but options are limited. The only time another server will be involved with Standard Edition is if a UC integration to MSFT or IBM demands it. Now lets look at a few common deployment option for Enterprise Edition. In the first, I am showing the a 2 server deployment with the bridge and media server co-resident on one server with a server for an application such as the CRS on another server. A deployment such as this is common if capacity demands it and no redundancy is desired. As noted in the comment box at the bottom, various resiliency options exist. You can hae N+N redundancy in this configuration providing an acive/standby bridge that allows for automatic fail-over. With this there is an active bridge on one server, standby bridge on another, and single CRS, so it becomes a 3 server deployment. This is the most common Enterprise Deployment as it provides a fair level of resilliency with a small footprint. As I mentioned when looking at the technical specifications earlier, the audio bridge and media servers can be de-coupled. This allows for higher capacity especially when codecs other than G.711 are involved. To achieve the maximum of 4000 callers in a single conference you need to move to a pyramid configuration with at least two media servers. In a pyramid configuration the media servers can be deployed with N+1 redundancy so that you have one hot standby media server in case any one of the active servers is brought down. To go above 4000 ports per site you can deploy multiple bridges. A single CRS can work across them. This is known as a multi-cabinet deployment. With any of the Enterprise Deployment types you can have a remote Disaster Recovery bridge setup to mirror the environment and take over if there is a major outage at a location. Enterprise Edition Resiliency options
“Standalone” “Standalone - Resilient” Conferencing Conferencing Standby Adds: - Standby Conference server - 100% capacity redundancy - Automatic failover Lets look at resiliency options for Enterprise design. With Enterprise Edition, the single server standalone design can also be made resilient, which adds a second, paired, N+N standby server that provides 100% capacity redundancy and automatic failover. The Enterprise pyramid stack can also be made resilient by adding an N+N Application Server, as well as an additional Software Media Processing Server N+1 to the design. As with the Standalone design option, this resiliency option for Enterprise provides 100% capacity redundancy and automatic failover. “Pyramid” “Pyramid - Resilient” Conferencing SW Media Servers Standby Conferencing SW Media Servers N+1 SW Media Server Adds: - Standby Conference server - 100% capacity redundancy - Automatic failover - N+1 SW Media Server - Load sharing 16

Avaya Aura Conferencing Comparison to external services
A per-minute rate paid for every minute, every user Increased costs from: Increased minute usage Expanded number of users Advanced feature use Unusual circumstances: M&A, emergency, snow, volcanic ash Trend is to reduce costs, results in: Trend to reduce total usage Trend to less sophisticated usage Network, trunking, facilities required to access external services Most users are on-net and need to go off-net for external services Avaya Aura Conferencing ROI savings from eliminated external charges, typically in months No expense with: Increased core usage Expanded user groups Advanced feature usage Contingency, Business Continuity Assured & secure access High capacity absorbs spikes Sophisticated usages and new applications and can roll out without added costs *0 Help, Attended, Recording, Playback, DR dial-out Leverage the corporate network Most users are already “on-net” for telephony Reduced trunking / facilitites First we’ll look at the head to head competition against our most typical competitor, the incumbent conferencing service provider. Keeping in mind here that we have been the leading provider of conferencing solutions to Conference Service Providers for nearly 25 –years and Avaya Aura Conferencing is utilized by many global service providers as their core delivery platform for premium conferencing. As a fee-based external service, there is a per-minute charge for every minute of utilization, for every participant. A primary advantage of Avaya Aura Conferencing is in ROI realized by eliminating charges from external service providers. Naturally, increased utilization of any type, either more usage, more users, use of advanced or premium features, all brings an associated increase in charges from external services. And as most customers are under budget pressure, the trend is to reduce external expenses in a time where you need to actually increase the availability of conferencing and collaboration tools for your workers. A clear advantage of Avaya Aura Conferencing is that there is no increase in expense due to increased core usage, expanded users or the use of advanced features. Additional use cases can be defined for Contingency, Business Continuity conferencing scenarios, compounding the value of Avaya Aura Conferencing. And rather than maintaining additional trunking and facilities required to access external service providers, an advantage of Avaya Aura Conferencing is through leveraging the corporate network for access and transport, keeping in mind that most users are already on-net for their telephony. 19 19 19 19

Advantages beyond CSP avoided costs…
Avaya Aura Conferencing Compound TCO/ROI Advantages beyond CSP avoided costs… Platform for growth Accommodate organic & in-organic sources New usages & applications add value Emergency response, Webinars, archived Trainings, proactive customer reach out Foundational video MCU capability (Enterprise) augments existing video strategy Increased security of voice & data Leverages corporate network, on-network calling Leverages Avaya Aura® architecture Centralized application, global access, reduced trunking, multi-vendor Leverages desktop UC clients from Avaya and 3rd parties Higher quality, enhanced experience Increased agility and productivity The benefits of Avaya Aura Conferencing extend beyond only the savings of avoided expense with external service providers and provide a compounded effect to ROI. The solution’s scalable capacity provides a platform that supports growth, in both capacity and feature use. You can start off with a small and simple deployment and grow larger and evolve into more sophisticated use. You can extend collaboration within the organization to cover more employees, and allow existing conferencing users to collaborate more frequently. Avaya Aura Conferencing capacity also covers in-organic growth such as M&A activities and can absorb temporary usage spikes from weather related disruptions, volatile economic market conditions, or when natural disaster events such as volcanic ash eruptions change the way business needs to be conducted. Avaya Aura Conferencing allows customers to implement new and expanded uses for conferencing and collaboration, which can add significant value to the business, and add no additional cost or expense to operate. Emergency team responses, recording and archiving of Training events for example. As an on-net deployed solution the customer’s voice and data content are naturally more secure than with a multi-tenanted public bridge resource. Leveraging desktop Avaya or 3rd party UC clients, with roster displays and web-based controls enhance the collaboration experience and can provide a higher level of conference quality in the case of identifying the source of Music on Hold, or eliminating a noisy, disruptive line connected to your conference.

System Platform is a software abstraction layer that enables integration of Avaya applications on Linux-ready servers It’s not a product but reduces server hardware dependencies across Avaya products. Applications reside on System Platform rather than natively on the server hardware. It Allows pre-defined 'templates' of Avaya applications to share a common server Template can contain one or multiple software applications System Platform is designed to support real-time-intensive Avaya communications applications and delivers common simplified installation and support processes to these applications. Services include remote installation and support, Self-service software downloads, and licensing. Avaya Aura Conferencing Standard Edition is a template that resides on the System Platform. We have virtualized most of the current Enterprise Edition capabilities to come up with this offer. In this sense, Standard Edition is simply another deployment option for Avaya Aura Conferencing. System Platform is also used for the CRS, Web Portal, and Web Conferencing servers in Enterprise Edition. We are not able to utilize the System Platform for the Bridge or Media Server at this time due to the extreme high capacity and throughput required for those platforms.
