NC Shipping Advantages Close to ports. Midwest shippers have to go long distances by rail, truck and/or barge, increasing costs. Freight Service. Port of Wilmington, NC has weekly sailings. Container Availability. Containers were available at Wilmington all of 2008 and 2009, while not the case elsewhere in the U.S.

Freight volume is less seasonal at Wilmington than at many other ports. Attractive rates if ship weekly. Options. Other port options are available if rates are not competitive from Wilmington.
