What is Urban Fiction? Urban Fiction is a popular yet controversial genre especially among young African-American and Hispanic patrons. Why Should Library Collections Contain Some Urban Fiction Titles? Timeless themes such as peer pressure, violence, pregnancy, divorce, drugs and sex appear in the stories. Students should be exposed to a variety of genres. Many students can relate to the stories. Attractive reads for reluctant readers.
