3. Luke 11.1-13 1 One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, "Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples." 2 He said to them, "When you pray, say: " 'Father, [Example Prayer] hallowed be your name, your kingdom come. 3 Give us each day our daily bread. 4 Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. And lead us not into temptation.' " Luke 11, mc 11.1-13, vv 11.1-4

Luke 11.1-13 5 Then he said to them, "Suppose one of you has a friend, and he goes to him at midnight and says, 'Friend, lend me three loaves of bread, 6 because a friend of mine on a journey has come to me, and I have nothing to set before him.' 7 "Then the one inside answers, 'Don't bother me. The door is already locked, and my children are with me in bed. I can't get up and give you anything.' [pray boldly] 8 I tell you, though he will not get up and give him the bread because he is his friend, yet because of the man's boldness he will get up and give him as much as he needs. Luke 11, mc 11.1-13, vv 11.5-8

5. Luke 11.1-13 9 "So I say to you: [don’t give up] Ask and it will be given to you; [continue asking] seek and you will find; [continue seeking] knock and the door will be opened to you. [continue knocking] 10 For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened. [he will answer] 11 "Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13 If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!" Luke 11, mc 11.1-13, vv 11.9-13

Philippians 1.9-11 9 And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, 10 so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, 11 filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God. Philippians 1, mc 1.3-20, vv. 1.9-11

7. 1 Thessalonians 5.17, 25 17 pray continually; KJV-pray without ceasing 25 Brothers, pray for us. KJV-Brethren, pray for us 1 Thessalonians 5, mc 5.23-28, vv. 5.25 1 Thessalonians 5, mc 5.12-22, vv. 5.17

8. 2 Thessalonians 1.11-12 11 With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may count you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may fulfill every good purpose of yours and every act prompted by your faith. 12 We pray this so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Thessalonians 1, mc 1.3-12, vv. 1.11-12

9. 2 Thessalonians 3.1-2 1 Finally, brothers, pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored, just as it was with you. 2 And pray that we may be delivered from wicked and evil men, for not everyone has faith. 2 Thessalonians 3, mc 2.13-3.5, vv. 3.1-2

10. 1 John 5.14-17 14 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him. 16 If anyone sees his brother commit a sin that does not lead to death, he should pray and God will give him life. I refer to those whose sin does not lead to death. There is a sin that leads to death. I am not saying that he should pray about that. 17 All wrongdoing is sin, and there is sin that does not lead to death. [sin unto death - Matthew 12.31] 1 John 5, mc 5.13-21, vv. 5.14-17

11. Romans 8.26-27 26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God's will. Romans 8, mc 8.10-39, vv. 8.26-27

12. 1 Corinthians 14.12-15 12 So it is with you. Since you are eager to have spiritual gifts, try to excel in gifts that build up the church. 13 For this reason anyone who speaks in a tongue should pray that he may interpret what he says. 14 For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful. 15 So what shall I do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my mind; I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my mind. 1 Corinthians 14, mc 11.2-14.40, vv. 14.12-15
