Subheading/event title Local Area Agreements pave the way for local authorities to look less to Whitehall for direction and legitimacy, and more to the communities they serve. They provide a dramatic reduction in targets set centrally. And they put an emphasis on partnership working, because local authorities already know that delivering for the people they serve means working closely with all the organisations - the businesses, hospitals, charities – who play a role in making their area stronger, safer, greener.
