Rope3 CLASSIFICATION Life Safety Rope dedicated solely for the purpose of supporting people in rescue, fire fighting, or any other emergency operation, or during training evolutions Utility Rope used for fire service applications with exception of life safety Note: All ropes used for life safety purposes must comply with NFPA 1983, Fire service life safety rope system components, current edition

Rope4 TYPES OF ROPES Synthetic Fiber Usually nylon or polyester Fibers are continuous (for life safety) Resist mildew, dry rot, & chemical damage Stronger than natural fiber rope Natural Fiber usually manila sisal or cotton constructed of short natural fibers Deteriorates rapidly over time Looses strength after it is wet Susceptible to mildew,dry rot, chemical damage, & abrasion
