The Fife is a very old flute with only 6 holes and no keys. The Fife has been used for over 500 years in the military. Fifes originally provided music for troops on the march. FIFE

The military used maneuvers, marches and precise movements. Eventually “calls” were written for the fife and drum to signal the different movements. MILITARY USE

Drums are made with calf skins heads and ropes snares. Snares vibrate on the bottom of the drum, making a rattling sound. DRUMS
