The Mississippi river is the largest river in America. It starts up in the mountains and flows through gorges and waterfalls and past muddy swamps and many houses. The Mississippi river has a length of 2,320 miles. The Mississippi drains most of the area between the Rocky Mountains except the areas drained by Hudson Bay. The population of people living by the river is massive, at last count, 2,844,658 People living by the river are used to floods so they are not scared when a flood evolves. There are a lot of houses next to the Mississippi and a lot of facilities.
