2 Who took part... The UK Contingent 174 young adults, aged 18 to 25 25 International Service Team, aged 26+ 4 Contingent Management Team The biggest UK Contingent to a Moot (we think!)

3 Who took part... Other contingents Over 80 different countries were represented Contingent sizes ranged from 1 (Romania, Kenya) to about a million (Mexicans)! Over 2,000 young adults took part IST and support staff added another 500+

4 What we did... UK Contingent preparations First briefing weekend in October 2012 @ Gilwell Park Second briefing weekend in April 2013 @ Bradley Wood Active Facebook group Newsletters and official communications

5 What we did... UK Contingent pre-event Separate pre-events for IST and participants (different dates) All did Canadian Museum of Civilisation & Klip ‘n’ Climb Choices of First Nations Island or maple syrup plantation visit Choices of rafting, wildlife park or GPS challenge Group meal before the start of the Moot

6 What we did... The Moot itself Opening ceremonies in Ottawa and then at Awacamenj Mino Three days of activities on and around the camp-site Two days on urban experience, linked with Shelterbox, etc Cultural day for all on site, including First Nations ceremony Closing ceremony on site, all night party option!

7 What we did... UK Contingent post-event Toronto & Niagra Falls Banff & The Rockies White water rafting Free time / independent travel

8 How it went... The Practicalities Some travel glitches – lost bags, missed flights, etc! Some practical challenges on site – food distribution A range of medical issues – we now love the NHS! Full-on, but hugely rewarding!

9 How it went... The Experience Working with international patrols A great inter-cultural day (not just cos we won the Moot Ashes) Enjoying the Canadian wilderness First Nations ceremonies, demonstrations and chats

10 How it went... The Feedback 89% of the contingent said the Moot gave them the chance to experience other cultures 70% said they’d developed personally during the Moot 93% would recommend Iceland 2017…

11 Looking forward... Iceland 2017 Organisers were on site in Canada and are already well underway with their planning The dates are set (25 July to 2 August 2017) We can start getting information out there now! 12 Looking forward... Roverway 2016 Taking place in France, possibly trans border paths and much more choice than previous years Location is nearer to the UK –cost much less an issue Open to the 16 to 22 age range Date is set (18 to 29 July 2016)
