RELIGHT Example: Williston Central School Grade 3-8 school built in stages between 1950 and 1991 Typical mix of T8 and T12 lighting throughout Controls were seldom used or non-existent Classes and offices were illuminated to 50-75 fc “One-for-one” approach could have yielded 42% savi ngs Instead, the school worked with a local lighting designer through the RELIGHT program to design a lighting upgrade

Williston Central School – Recommendations 10% (125) of the existing light fixtures were eliminated due to poor placement and/or over lighting All remaining equipment was upgraded/replaced with a variety of High Performance T8 and T5 High Output Lamping was generally reduced to two lamps per fixture Light levels were designed to IESNA recommendations Remote- and fixture-mounted occupancy sensors were used extensively throughout; 75% of the fixtures were controlled

8. Williston Central School – Results Instead of saving the school 42% ($14,000 per year), the design achieved 62% savings ($21,000 per year)
