Overview The Control Panel Customize the Course Style Select a Content View Select Course Entry Add a Banner to Course Entry Page Change Tool Availability Working with Modules

The Control Panel The Control Panel is the central access point for Course Management functions It is not visible to students It is located under the Course Menu

Take Notice Expand each of the items on the Control Panel by clicking the Expand Icon.

Customize the Course Style Select “Style” from the Customize section of the Control Panel. This will allow you to: Display the links on the Course Menu as Text or Buttons Select a default view for the Course Menu Select a default Content View – icons &/or text Change the Course Entry Point Add a banner to the top of the Entry Page

Changing Tool Availability As the Instructor, you can select which tools are available to your students. From the Control Panel, click Customization then select Tool Availability To make a Tool available, check the Tool’s check box. To make the Tool unavailable, clear the Tool’s check box Click Submit

Tool Availability Gray filled check Box – System Admin made the tool unavailable Hyphen – availability setting in the system cannot be changed

Hands-on Activities Customizing Your Course Course Menu and Content View Change the menu style to Text or select a new color and shape for the buttons Change how links are viewed on the Course Menu Course Entry Point Change the Course Entry Point to Announcements Tool Availability Make the Glossary Tool unavailable. Change the availability of two other tools Turn Edit Mode to OFF to preview how the page appears to students

The display of the Homepage may be customized by adding, removing, or reordering the Modules Customizing the Homepage

Adding a Module In Edit Mode, access the Homepage Click Add a Course Module To add a Module, check the box. To remove, clear the box Click Submit

Quick Remove With Edit Mode ON, remove a module by clicking the “Close” icon represented by the X.

Reorder Modules As learned previously, use the Drag and Drop function to reorder modules

Hands-on Activity Customizing Homepage Create a new Home Page by clicking the + sign in the Course Menu to create a Module Page. Name it Home Page. Access your new Home Page and Add Course Modules Remove one of the modules Reorder the modules
