NWL LAG aims The aims of established LAGs in Lithuania are to develop local partnership between Governmental and Non-Governmental Organizations in LAG localities seeking to implement the principles of cohesive rural development.

Brief facts about NWL LAG Founded on 10.09.2004 Inhabitants in the area approximately 24 759 NWL LAG consists of 16 members of whom 10 are board members On 2006-2008 NWL LAG implemented pilot integrated strategy and reclaimed 508 817 Lt. Now LAG is implementing Local Development Strategy for year 2008-2014 and has to reclaim 9 110 000 Lt

YEAR 2006-2008 The Northwest Lithuania Local Action Group (NWLLAG) operating in the Mažeikiai district implemented the strategy “Rural Locality Study and Preparation of the Integrated Pilot Study, Seeking for the Life Quality Improvement in the Rural Residential Locality of the Mažeikiai District.” The strategy has been prepared in accordance with the questionnaire results of the district residents.

YEAR 2006-2008 During the first stage of application submission, 15 applications were received, of which 8 were granted financing. Within the second call for applications, the NWL LAG received 22 applications. Funding was granted to 21 projects. After the third call, two more projects were funded. In total, 31 projects were implemented.

The support was used for putting to order the community and culture house, the public bath-house of the Viekšniai eldership was repaired, in Seda the premises of the former pharmacy was adapted for the community centre, the community trainings and various events were organized.
