Sounds are form of energy, created by something vibrating (moving very fast in invisible waves). The vibrations set up sound waves in the surrounding air. Sound waves reach the outer ear and makes the ear drum vibrate, 3 little bones then fluid in the snail-shaped vibrates so we hear.

Wind chime make sound because when the wind pushes them into each other. And one chime bangs into other, both chimes shake a little. This shaking makes the sound you hear.

1. I tap the branches of tuning fork on the table  I hear a…………………………. 2. I touch gently with my fingers one of the branches of the tuning fork  I feel the branch is ………………….. 3. I tap the tuning fork and put the branches gently in a water bowl  I saw the water is …………………… I learned How sound travel through……………………. And it helped me to infer how sound travels through………………..

1. I put the clock on the table (No sound – Very low sound) ……………… I hear. 2. I put one end of stick ruler on the clock and the other end up to my ear. I hear a ……………………….. I learned that; The sound travel through the ………………… as well as the ……………….

Fill a balloon with air, and then tie the end. Put the balloon against your ear, and then tap it gently with a pencil. I hear a…………….…. (Low – loud) sound. 1. Fill another balloon with water, and then close it. Put the balloon on your ear then tap it gently. I hear a …………………. (Low – loud) sound. 2. Fill another third balloon with sand then close it. Put the balloon against your ear, and then tap it gently. I heard a ……………….... (Low – loud) sound. I learned that; 1. Sound can only travel through materials. These materials can be ……………..,………….…….. Or ………….……. 2. Sounds travel through …..…………. Better than………..……..and travel through………………. Better than……………..

Question 2

Which of these is incorrect? A Without energy the air particles don’t travel a way form the source. B When a spoon strike a glass, the glass begins to vibrate. C When a ruler is struck, it vibrates, but don’t produce sound. D When the waves bang our eardrums, we hear the sound.

Question 6

Which of these are correct? A Sounds travel in the space lower than the water. B sounds have the same speed whether travel in the water or space. C Space is vacuum, so sounds can’t travel at all. D Sounds travel much faster in the space than in water.
