2. What Happened Next? After spending a night in jail and being threatened by the highest court of the Jews (the Sanhedrin), Peter and John… Gathered with the brethren and prayed, “Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word” (Acts 4:29). Then they did just that! What would you have done?

3. What Happened Next? After being arrested, beaten, and ordered by the Sanhedrin not to speak in the name of Jesus, the apostles… Left the courtroom “rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for His name” (Acts 5:41). Then they went back to preaching about Jesus! What would you have done?

4. What Happened Next? When severe persecution arose against the church at Jerusalem resulting in the death of Stephen and the arrest of countless others, the disciples… Left Jerusalem and “went every where preaching the word” (Acts 8:4). This increased the borders of the kingdom! What would you have done?

5. What Happened Next? Upon hearing that some of the unbelievers in Iconium planned to stone them, Paul and Barnabas… Traveled to Lystra “and there they preached the gospel” (Acts 14:7). What would you have done?

6. What Happened Next? After being stoned at Lystra for preaching the gospel, the apostle Paul… Left the next day for Derbe and “preached the gospel to that city” (Acts 14:21). Then he returned to Lystra to continue his work! What would you have done?

7. What Happened Next? After being beaten with many stripes and thrown in prison, Paul and Silas… “Prayed and sang praises unto God” (Acts 16:25). Later they converted the Philippian jailor and his family! What would you have done?

8. What Happened Next? When the king threatened to have them thrown into a fiery furnace for refusing to worship a golden image, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego… Told the king, “Be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up” (Daniel 3:18).

9. What Happened Next? When the king decreed that those who prayed to God would be cast into a den of lions, the prophet Daniel… Opened his window and “kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime” (Daniel 6:10).

10. What About Us? Do we display the same unbreakable faith and persistence that those men did? What if we were threatened, arrested, or beaten for our faith in Christ? How many people have lost their faith because someone said something that hurt their feelings or because a family member gave them a hard way to go for being a Christian? If something like that can break us, what would happen if we were really tested?

11. What About Us? The Hebrew brethren faced extreme persecution in the first century. They were mocked, ridiculed, arrested, and physically assaulted. Even their property was confiscated (Hebrews 10:32-34). Would we remain faithful to Christ in such harsh circumstances? Would we remain true to Him if it cost us our property and freedom?

12. Good Indicator We have a lectureship starting tomorrow (June 5-9). Will we be faithful in supporting this gospel effort? Will we be in attendance to hear these lessons and to edify one another? This lectureship will be a good indicator of our faithfulness!
