1. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn
Chapters 14-16

2. Basic Events Chapter 15 Chapter 14 Chapter 16 -Huck loses the raft.
-Jim and Huck look through their loot.
-They have a conversation about the story of King Solomon.
-Huck tells Jim about other kings he knows of.
-They argue about whether or not a frenchman is a man. Jim says no, Huck says yes.
Chapter 16
-Huck and Jim wonder if they will know when they are at Cairo.
-Huck was troubled by the fact that Jim was a free man now and that he personally helped him.
-Huck decides that telling on Jim was the best thing to do when Jim begins to praise him.
-Jim nearly gets busted by two white men looking for 5 black men on the loose.
-Their raft gets run over by a steamship.
Chapter 15
-Huck loses the raft.
-Huck begins to hear whooping from behind him and then in all different places which confuses him.
-The whoops that Huck hears stops.
-Jim went to sleep.
-Huck saw Jim and met up with him and pretended the fog was not real.
-Huck feels bad for playing this trick on Jim, apologizes, and tells the truth

3. Characters
Huckleberry Finn- Main character in novel. Huck is running away from home with Jim. They are traveling in a raft down the Mississippi River.
Jim- The Widow Douglas' slave. Jim is traveling with Huck with hopes that he can be a free man and see his family again.
Man on the boat- He tells the boys that 
they must be crazy asking where Cairo is.
Men looking for runaways- Huck met these
men on the way to turn in Jim. They were 
looking for 5 runaway slaves.

4. Quotation with Analysis- Chapter 14
"It was fifteen minutes before i could work myself up to go and humble myself to a nigger; but i done it and i warn't ever sorry for it afterward neither" (Twain 78).
Analysis:
This shows how Huck has matured throughout the novel, learning to treat black people more like people rather than property. However, he wasn't sorry for it after shows how he recognizes Jim's feelings and feels bad for him.

5. Quotation with Analysis- Chapter 15
"When I got all wore out wid work, en wid de callin' for you, en went to sleep, my heart wuz mos' broke bekase you wuz los', en I didn' k'yer no' mo' what become er me en de raf'. En when I wake up en fine you back ag'in, all safe en soun', de tears come, en I could 'a' got down on my knees en kiss yo' foot, I's so thankful. En all you wuz thinkin' 'bout wuz how you could make a fool uv ole Jim wid a lie" (Twain 77).
Analysis:
This shows how much Jim cares for Huck and how he spent his entire night trying to find Huck. This also shows Huck's inability see how wise Jim actually is and how much Huck underestimates Jim's ability to be a good partner.

6. Quotation with Analysis- Chapter 16
"He was saying how the first thing he would do when he got to a free state he would go to saving up money and never spend a single cent, and when he got enough he would buy his wife, which was owned on a farm close to where Miss Watson lived; and then they would both work to buy the two children, and if their master wouldn't sell them, they'd get an Ab'litionist to go and steal them" (Twain 80).
Analysis:
This shows how much Jim misses his family and what he would do to see them again. Huck disapproves of what Jim has to say because Huck has never thought about Jim and how he feels. I think Huck is being selfish with his response to what Jim has to say.

7. Themes
1.) Do what you think is right, regardless of what society tells you.
Example: Huck constantly debates in his head whether he should or shouldn't turn Jim in. However, he comes to the conclusion that deep down inside, he knows that saving Jim is the right thing.
2.) Think before you act.
Example: Huck greatly regrets all of the jokes that he has pulled on Jim when he realizes how they make Jim feel. He decides to apologize for it.

8. Questions Asked
What would Huck's life be like if he did not have Jim with him? Would he still be traveling down the river in the raft? Would he be able to survive?
Do you think Huck would have continued to turn Jim in if Jim had not praised him for being the only white man to be honest with him? Why did he suddenly want to turn Jim in?
