Ensure tidy parking of all vehicles Ensure the smooth running and free flow of traffic in the Paddock Area Make sure that cars are on time at:- Scrutineering Assembly Area Noise Control Find out any specific needs of Team Managers Notify the Clerk Of The Course of all cars which do not intend to either take part in practice or start the race

14 MSA RTP Officials Safety Training Programme (ASN) (Month & Year) 14 MSA RTP Officials Safety Training Programme RAAT May 2014 14 Start Line (Before The Start) Ensure you: have the correct version of the grid sheet know the grid formations for each race Know where clear up equipment is situated Understand the start procedures for each race (and differing weather conditions) Position cars on the grid in accordance with championship regulations i.e. nose to line, wheels to line etc. Deal with removal of cars from the grid Watch for jump starts

If lap-charting, note and inform relevant party of number of cars that take chequered flag more than once Know when to use the last lap board Maintain a high level of safety on the Startline at all times

Start racing. (unless you have already) Waved Yellow Danger, slow down no overtaking Someone else has screwed up for a change. Possible primo over-taking opportunity. Double Waved Yellow Great danger, slow down considerably, be prepared to stop, no overtaking Slam on the brakes immediately without checking your mirrors. Whoever’s behind you will think twice about ever passing you again. Start Line Flag Signals SAFETY CAR

Make sure that bloody observer doesn’t see you next time! BlackPull into the pits and report to the Clerk of the Course Either the car just ahead of you or the one behind has done something bad. Also known as the “Who Me ???” flag. Black & orange disk Warning. Your car has an apparent mechanical failure or fire. Something has fallen off your car or your backside is on fire. Slow down & look for it or speed up and blow the flames out. 24

Proceed at full speed & see how much you can scare the marshals and how close you can come without hitting it. RedImmediately cease racing proceed slowly, no overtaking, obey marshals instructions The car you hit has spun & caught fire & is blocking the track, so the race has to be stopped. ChequeredEnd of Race.Time to start thinking up excuses as to why you came in dead last!.
