2   A baseball player in the Negro Leagues who played for the Birmingham Black Barons and Indianapolis Clowns.   1st African-American to play for the Chicago White Sox in 1951.   To reach his dreams and goals, he stayed focused, improved every day, & did not take anything for granted.

5 Sam Hairston was able to achieve his goals by using 3 success strategies. Staying focused has been important in my life. I remember ever since I was a young girl all I wanted to do was teach. I would annoy my siblings with playing school and when they didn’t want to play school, I would have imaginary students and a clipboard to take attendance. Of course everyone was always present!
