6.  Flanked by pine cones which symbolise ‘life’ and carrying poppies, which symbolise ‘sleep.’ Christian? (Sleeping, not dead?)  Crude facial features and garments do not reach the floor. Unusual for a female tombstone, perhaps suggesting her husband bought a generic tombstone for his wife and added the inscription below?  Cheaper than an entire tombstone being carved to specific detail from scratch  General detail is poor e.g. Feet, however very basic understanding of drapery shown  Hands are fairly well depicted however still no distinction between masculinity and femininity  Facial features such as eyes etched in rather than carved  Artist not highly skilled however a certain degree of technique required to produce such a carving
