Normans - descended from the Vikings. Place they lived - Normandy People were called - Normans. The Normans learned - French; They became - Christian. Duke of Normandy- William 1035 (7 years old). Norman

Motte and Bailey castle : pieces of land with a castle in the middle of the land. water surrounding - land which had the castle in it. a portcullis - a fence with spikes in the front.

The stone used building castles was mined. The Romans had been great builders. These are the types of stone used: Limestone Hard chalk Flint Sandstone

Norman main meals : dinner at midday; supper at about 6’clock. Normans pastimes: enjoyed music poetry after a meal. Children games: blind mans buff ; chasing, draughts; chess.

Stone Castles - survive today. Architecture of the Stone Castles/Churches - dominate much of the British landscape. Now a days you can visit the castles. The Norman stone castles today Bunratty Blarney
