Just is a somewhat shy fourteen year-old girl. She has never really had a boyfriend, but a while ago, she started to talk to the same guy (Mark) on an email chat line every night. He has told her that he lives in her town and goes to a nearby school. He said he is in grade 12, but she is not too worried about the age difference because they like the same things. Jane really likes chatting with Mark as she finds it easier to be brave and flirtatious by email than in person. Recently, the have started talking on the phone, and their conversations, but she doesn’t want him to think she’s immature. Many times, Mark has told her that she seems older than fourteen, and she likes hearing that.

She doesn’t know who to talk to about their conversations, as her parents would freak out and she is worried that her friends might think Mark is out for one thing. She is hoping that Mark will become her boyfriend, and even worked up the courage to ask him to come over and watch TV some evening. He told her that he didn’t want to meet her parents, and that their on-line relationship was much more exciting. Last Saturday, he called her and told her that his parents were out of town. He said that she should come over so they could do some of the things they had been talking about. Jane’s parents were out for dinner and she knew she could just leave a note saying she was at her friend Sarah’s house. Mark even offered to pay for a cab so she wouldn’t have to take the bus over.
