Our Story

The Covenant started in the UK as an idea in 2007 by Chris Curtis Developed officially in 2009 Over the past two years, the response has been overwhelming

What is the National Covenant for Church Youth Workers?

The Covenant is meant to be a significant step towards creating a national standard about how churches employee a youth worker.

How? The Covenant challenges churches to make seven simple but important promises about the practice and principles they will use in employing a youth worker.

1. We will pray for and spiritually support

2. We will give space for retreat and reflection

The Response of the Youth Worker

As a Covenant is an agreement between two parties, there is a response we challenge youth workers to have towards their churches as they seek to reach more youth and their families with the Gospel…

How does the National Covenant work?

Churches become accredited with the Covenant to show they are taking the responsibility of employing a youth worker seriously.

To earn accreditation, a church needs to decide two action steps it will take in the coming year for each of the seven promises.

A church will initially be accredited for one year but can apply for renewal in two year blocks.

Why Would a Church Apply for Accreditation?

The Benefits: Healthier Youth Workers and Youth Ministry programs which will lead to more teens and their families being exposed to the Gospel The ability to display the logo on a wide range of publicity, including job advertisements Basic training for churches Basic training for Youth Workers
